Rachel graduated from Purdue University with a BS in Animal Sciences where she started her initial path towards becoming a veterinarian. She has over a decade of experience training and rehabilitating dogs of all backgrounds for local rescues and shelters. While an undergraduate, Rachel frequently fostered cats and dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments, often multiple at a time in her home. After achieving great success placing dogs with the right families, she shifted her focus from veterinary medicine to canine behavioral health, taking a more hands-on approach to improving every dog's chance of adoption. Rachel also spent time working for a local pet grocer, educating and providing nutritional guidance to owners, helping their pets live healthier lives, which she continues to teach and incorporate in her training today.

In 2016, Rachel moved to Seattle, Washington to pursue a career in sales and marketing. She  continued to offer dog sitting and walking services part-time and eventually expanded to daycare and training in her home. Rachel left her corporate job in 2020 to dedicate herself full-time to On the Mark Balanced Training, following her passion for developing happy, well-balanced dogs and building lasting human-canine relationships.

Rachel attends and participates in many continuing education seminars and workshops by leaders in the field. These include Julie’s K9 Academy (2020), Jeff Gellman SolidK9 Training (2018, 2019), and Amy Pishner ValorK9 Academy (2018). She is a preferred trainer and rescue partner with Dog Gone Seattle, a Washington-based non-profit dedicated to saving homeless dogs from high kill shelters.

Rachel lives in Bothell, Washington with her two dogs, Rooney and Weller. When she’s not training, Rachel enjoys trick training, bitework, and competitive obedience with her boys. In fact, Rooney is a decorated AKC Rally Novice titleholder! Rachel loves the outdoors -- she’s an avid angler and can be found fly fishing or exploring the PNW in her free time.
